Christos Coins & Jewelry Short Snorter
The Short Snorter Project
Tom at Christos Coins & Jewelry in South Bend, Indiana, sent in this long short snorter and writes, "About a year or so
ago we purchased a collection that included a huge, rolled up, taped together group of notes, including a North Africa $1
note as well as many foreign notes all from WWII era (it was originally 13 notes long but some of the tape gave way
when we tried to unroll it).  They are covered in signatures, many of which seem to be officers, including one we have
already identified as
Gen. William S. Key.  I am sure that there are probably many other prominent figures from WWII on it
based on the number of officers that signed it (many Colonels and Lt. Colonels that we can see).  We saw your article
in the May 10, 2010 Coin World and thought you may be interested in looking at it. Attached is the scan of what we have
of this short snorter.  It is 13 notes, but the last note has tape residue at the end so we believe that this is not the
complete short snorter and that it has separated and is now in different hands.  We also determined that the early notes
are what came apart.  Notes 1-3 are connected and note 4 fell off completely.  Any information you can determine about
this short snorter would be of great interest to us. My boss told me today that this short snorter came from someone
who lives in Grand Rapids, MI and was not related to the past owners.  That is all we know about it and we don't know
much else as the person who started it just signed it "Jerry" so we don't even know their last name.  The only signature
that we've been able to determine is the Gen. William Key signature.  Thank you again for taking a look at this and if
there is anything else we can do to help just let us know."
