|John Jeppesen Short Snorter signed by Admiral William F. "Bull" Halsey
U.S. One Dollar Silver Certificate - Series 1935A - Serial # Z87202737B - Submitted by Steven Kirsher on June 9, 2009.
Bill writes, "Great web site... a lot of history in those Short Snorters. I have one that is rather interesting - haven't had
the chance to research the names yet but two pop out. The first if R. J. Nixon (Pan American Airways Clipper Pilot) and
the other is W. F. Halsey (Admiral Halsey). This was an April 24, 1943 flight from Treasure Island to Honolulu. Pan
American Airways Pilots were flying for the military so this could have been either a Navy Clipper flight (Boeing-314 or
Martin M-130 Clipper, all the Pan Am Clippers were transferred to military operations after the war started) or maybe a
Navy PBY/PBM flight. There is probably a story behind this Short Sorter but haven't figured it out yet. If you or any of
your viewers has information on this one, I would love to hear from them." This originally belonged to a John Jeppesen.
