The Paul McIlvaine Collection of Short Snorters

The Short Snorter Project
Paul McIlvaine's interest in World War II "short snorters" began when he met some local "mall walkers" and joined them
for coffee. The group included B-24, C-47, and P-38 WWII pilots, and discussions of the short snorter tradition ensued.
"That was all that was necessary to ignite my interest," says McIlvaine. Since then, he found an interesting link between
short snorters and Yap stone money. "I spent a week on the Island of Yap, where the value of the national currency is
determined by the personal stories associated with it, much like short snorters." (The Numismatist - May 2009 - page 20)
