20 REICHSMARK REICHBANKNOTE GERMAN SHORT SNORTER
SERIAL # H 13358414 - "NANCY, FRANCE   1944"
Signature on the front is Lt Col. John R. Shright, Jr., USA Infantry.  He also signed "Nancy, Fr. 44"  [Nancy is a town in
France]. An unrecognizable signature is also on the obverse under the cellophane tape that has obscured the writing
as it has darkened with age.
Signature on the back is Brigadier General Frank U. Greer, USA.  Greer was a Headquarters Officer in the 79th Infantry
Division that was one of the outfits that liberated Nancy, France in 1944. The cellophane tape on both ends indicates that
this Short Snorter was originally taped together with [most likely] other short snorters.  How and when it was detached
remains a mystery. This note was acquired from an individual who purchased it at a Swap Meet in Palos Verdes, Calif.
