The Short Snorter Project
Richard Greene wrote, "I was in Oregon to visit my mother a couple of weeks ago, and I took my short snorter bill up
there to show her. As I told you before, her brother’s name was on the back of the bill. Anyhow, she said she was quite
sure my sister had an old file from my late father’s stuff that had another bill in it!!!! She just mailed it to me a couple of
days ago. Apparently this one was a bill my father had. He was a surgeon with the 59th Evacuation Hospital group
across North Africa and up into Europe. I’m really glad you’re doing this."
W. Wallace Greene, M.D., was a surgeon with the 59th Evacuation Hospital from 1942-1945. This photo was taken while he was still a Major in the Medical Corps. He was later promoted to Lt. Colonel.
